Dr. Bob Pearce is an Extension Professor and Director of Hemp Programs at the University of Kentucky, Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. Dr. Pearce grew up on a small Kentucky farm raising corn, soybean, hay, and burley tobacco with his family. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in agronomy from the University of Kentucky and a PhD. in soil chemistry from the University of Georgia. During his 30+ years as an Extension Specialist in Kentucky, he has conducted field research and Extension programming on transplant production systems, soil fertility, conservation tillage methods, and sucker control programs for burley tobacco. Currently, Dr. Pearce’s hemp research focus is on best agronomic management practices, sustainability, and rotational cropping systems for field production. He coordinates the broad hemp research efforts for the College and assists researchers interested in hemp with securing funding and accessing hemp raw materials to support their research efforts.
