NYSDAM now accepting Grower Licenses under new Hemp Program

NY hemp growers can now apply for licenses to grow hemp in 2022 from the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets (NYSDAM).

This year, licenses will be administered under the state’s new Hemp Program, which replaced the previous Industrial Hemp Agricultural Research Pilot Program.

The 2018 Farm Bill required all hemp-growing states to submit Hemp Program Plans to the USDA. The USDA recently approved New York’s plan, allowing NYSDAM to continue administering a hemp grower licensing program.

With the start of the new year, the new Hemp Program is now in effect. All previously licensed NY hemp growers wishing to grow hemp in 2022 must re-apply for a license under the new program.

For information about the new program and to apply for growers licensing, sampling certification, or lab identification, visit the Ag. and Markets’ Hemp Licensing website.
