Program update for Cornell Hemp Field Day August 11

This year’s Cornell Hemp Field Day will feature a wide range of topics and demonstrations from the latest on regulations and economics to pest management (DEC credits are available) to an introduction of the USDA hemp germplasm repository.

Topics for the opening session in Jordan Hall at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, N.Y. include:

  • Regulatory updates for industrial and cannabinoid hemp.
  • Substrate testing for soilless hemp production.
  • Economics for grain, fiber, and cannabinoid hemp.

Activities shift to AgriTech’s research fields for late-morning and afternoon sessions.  Topics include:

  • Weed, disease and insect management.
  • Baling and harvesting demos.
  • High tunnel soil management and biocontrol.
  • Grain/fiber trials.
  • USDA genetics trial.
  • Cover crops.
  • Soils carbon sequestration and carbon markets.
  • Diploid and triploid varieties
  • Flowering time.
  • Remote imaging.
